BYD announced that it sold 302,000 electric vehicles in March, an increase of 46% year-on-year, and produced 296,000 units, an increase of 41.2%. Pure electric sales alone were nearly 140,000 units, an increase of 36.3%, and production was 134,000 units, an increase of 28.6%.
In the first quarter, BYD’s electric vehicle sales totaled 626,000 units, an increase of 13.4% year-on-year, and its output was 296,000 units, an increase of 8%. For pure electric vehicles alone, sales in the first quarter were 300,000 units, an increase of 13.4% year-on-year, and total production volume was 292,000 units, an increase of 8.9%.
BYD’s electric vehicles sold 526,400 units in the fourth quarter of last year, surpassing Tesla’s 484,500 units in the same quarter for the first time. However, Tesla, which immediately released data for the first quarter of this year, is expected to deliver approximately 425,000 vehicles, which means it is expected to regain its leading position.
BYD sold a total of 38,400 new energy passenger vehicles overseas last month, 65% more than in February. The total installed capacity of new energy vehicle power batteries and energy storage batteries is approximately 11.762 gigawatt hours (GWh).
